McIntosh has introduced its newest A/V processor, the MX124, successor to the well-loved MX123 and designed to serve as the centerpiece of the most sophisticated home entertainment systems.
What's New
The MX124 processes up to 13.4 channels of audio — 11.4 through its balanced outputs, or up to 15.4 through unbalanced connections — supporting speaker layouts as ambitious as 7.4.6 or 9.4.4. It doubles the independent subwoofer outputs to four, giving installers and enthusiasts far more precision over bass management in larger or more complex rooms.
Room correction now includes Dirac Live Room Correction and Dirac Live Bass Control alongside Audyssey MultEQ XT32, with all licenses included at no extra cost. Dirac's bass control is what makes those four independent subwoofer outputs so useful, actively managing delay, phase, and frequency interaction between subs and mains for tight, even low end throughout the room.
On video, every HDMI input and output on the MX124 — seven inputs, three outputs, one with eARC — now supports 8K/60Hz and 4K/120Hz, along with Dolby Vision, HDR10+, HLG, and IMAX Enhanced.
