Audeze Releases In-Ear Planar Magnetic Headphones

Audeze Releases In-Ear Planar Magnetic Headphones

Headphone Manufacturer Delivers Convenient High-End Sound

Audeze has come out with a new pair of headphones perfect for the connected generation. Their small sleek design and portable amplifier technology make them ideal for your mobile device. Already known for having the lightest planar magnetic headphones in the world, the company’s iSINE 10 is one of the first in-ear headphones to include the technology. If you want to experience powerful and precise personal sound, there’s no better option than Audeze. Test the company’s premier headphones at our Vancouver, BC showroom or continue reading to see what makes the new iSINE 10 line so unique.

What is a Planar Magnetic Headphone?

If you’re not running in the biggest audiophiles circles, you may not know what planar magnetic headphones are and why they offer the best audio reproduction possible. Rather than trying to recreate tiny loudspeakers within your headphones, manufacturers came up with a new idea: using magnets spread out on a diaphragm instead of cone drivers. This resulted in lower distortion and more natural sounding bass, overcoming two of the biggest problems found in many popular brands.

What Makes the New iSINE 10 Stand Out?

The one negative aspect of planar magnetic headphones is that they tend to be bulky and heavy in order to fit all the magnets necessary to produce high-fidelity sound. The in-ear iSINE 10 is revolutionary in that regard, offering a more comfortable, stylish alternative for audiophiles that like to be on the move or simply don’t like the look of bigger gear. Audeze worked with Designworks USA, a BMW Group company, to provide the company’s award-winning sound in its most compact version yet. The iSINE 10, weighing just over 20 grams, has less than 0.1 percent distortion for crisp, realistic sound. The headphones also include ear locks to help keep the earbuds in place.

Your iPhone Becomes a Personal Amplifier

The power of Audeze headphones isn’t just reserved to your earbuds. Each headphone includes the company’s trademark Cipher Lightning Cable that gives you 24-bit audio from your iPhone, iPad or iPod. The cable connects to your power jack and includes an inline amplifier, digital-to-analog converter, and DSP. Through the Audeze IOS App, you can change your sound presets and use a 10-band equalizer that lets you adjust bass, range and more.

Can I Use the Headphones on Android Devices?

The iSINE headphones will work even without using the built-in amplifier found in the lighting cable. That is because the headphones only have an impedance of 16 ohms. Impedance is the amount of resistance a speaker gives its audio source. The higher the impedance, the more power you’ll need to get quality sound. Since you don’t need too much power for your headphones to be effective, you can use the analog audio cable that comes with the headphones to listen on non-Apple devices

The new iSINE line, which also includes the iSine 20 with higher impedance and a longer voice coil, will roll out in October but you can begin pre-ordering the headphones now. You can also test out more of the top high-end headphones on the market in our state-of-the-art headphone bar.
