About Me

My career started in the 1970s in Hong Kong, where I fell in love with audio equipment and haven’t stopped since. Now that I live in Canada, I’ve been working with Hi-Fi Centre for seventeen years. I could retire now—I turned 71 this year—but I keep working because connecting people with music still brings me joy. I’m always thinking about how a system will look in your space, sound in your room, and fit with your lifestyle.

My Approach

When someone comes in, my first question is always: What is this system for? Some customers want a pure two‑channel music system, others need a complete home theatre or a karaoke rig. Knowing the purpose helps me show the right options and explain the differences between them. From there, we can discuss sound quality, aesthetics, and budget to create a solution that truly suits you.

A Memorable Setup

One of my favourite customer stories involved a gentleman who split his time between Vancouver and China. He loved CDs but hated carrying hundreds of discs back and forth across the Pacific. About ten years ago, Linn introduced a new way to rip CDs to a hard drive and stream them with better sound than a CD player. We built him a Linn system, and he sold his old kit to a friend. Now, when he travels, all he has to pack is his hard drive. He told me it made his life easier and improved his listening—exactly what hi‑fi should do.
