LAiV Crescendo Beat Dual Output Linear Power Supply

The LAiV Crescendo BEAT is a true dual-output linear power supply, designed as "the quiet heartbeat" of a compact hi-fi system. Built the traditional way, it pairs a 70VA toroidal transformer and Schottky rectification with nearly 18,000µF of filter capacitance and two-stage linear regulation on each rail, delivering output noise as low as 10µVrms. Fixed 15V and 5V rails, both live at once, allow a single BEAT to power two components such as a DAC and a streamer, all in a fanless aluminium chassis finished in black or silver to match the Crescendo series.

The Hi-Fi Centre Team Take

The Crescendo BEAT is one of the most effective upgrades you can make to a compact digital system, replacing noisy switch-mode wall adapters with clean, quiet linear power. Streamers, DDCs and compact DACs are especially sensitive to power supply noise, and the improvement is easy to hear - a blacker background, finer detail, more natural tone and a more relaxed, open presentation. Because both rails are live simultaneously, one BEAT can power a Crescendo VERSE or Harmony µDAC on the 15V rail and a streamer or Harmony µDDC on the 5V rail, keeping your system tidy. Matching the Crescendo CHORUS and VERSE in size and finish, it is the natural foundation for a complete LAiV system.

Key Acoustic & Design Features

• Two Rails, Both Always On: A 15V output at 2A and a 5V output at 3A are active simultaneously, each fixed at a single voltage for the cleanest, most stable power, allowing one BEAT to power two components at once.
• Toroidal Transformer & Generous Filtering: A 70VA single-core toroidal transformer, Schottky diode rectification and 17,990µF of total filter capacitance provide a solid, low-noise foundation, with zero switching frequency and none of the high-frequency noise of switch-mode adapters.
• Two-Stage Linear Regulation & Full Protection: Each rail is regulated twice for output noise of 10µVrms or less with no load and 50µVrms or less at full load, while over-current, over-voltage, over-temperature and short-circuit protection safeguard your components.
• Authorized Dealer Support: Hi-Fi Centre is an Authorized Dealer for LAiV, ensuring authentic products backed by full manufacturer warranty coverage, in-store demonstration and expert technical support.

Frequently Asked Questions

Which components can the Crescendo BEAT power?

Within the LAiV range, the 15V rail is ideal for the Crescendo VERSE DAC and Harmony µDAC, while the 5V rail suits the Harmony µDDC and streamers. It also works with other brands' components that accept 5V DC at up to 3A or 15V DC at up to 2A via a 5.5/2.1 mm or 5.5/2.5 mm centre-positive barrel connector. Always check your component's voltage, current draw and connector polarity first - our team is happy to confirm compatibility.

Is a linear power supply worth it for a streamer or DAC?

For many systems, yes. Streamers, DDCs and compact DACs with sensitive analogue or clock circuits are especially affected by noise from switch-mode adapters, which reaches them through the DC input. Replacing a plastic wall adapter with a quality linear supply like the BEAT is one of the most audible upgrades available for the money, typically bringing a quieter background, better detail and a more natural sound.

Why are the BEAT's output voltages fixed rather than adjustable?

LAiV deliberately designed each rail for a single voltage, because a rail optimised for one voltage delivers cleaner and more stable power than one that compromises across several. With both 15V and 5V available at the same time, the BEAT covers the most common requirements for compact DACs and streamers.
