After four decades of refining analogue audio components, Luxman introduces a distinct entry among MC phono cartridges with the LMC-5. Designed to extract subtle micro-details from vinyl grooves, this model relies on an aluminium cantilever paired with a Shibata stylus profile. This stylus shape fits deeply into the groove walls, offering a larger contact area to pick up subtle musical cues while noticeably reducing background surface noise.

Inside the generator engine, a cross-mounted iron core features coils wound with mirror-like symmetry for both stereo channels. By using a compact magnetic field structure, the internal architecture shields the delicate audio signal from external noise interference. A single-point piano wire suspension holds the fulcrum firmly in place, allowing the stylus to track complex dynamic passages without introducing mechanical distortion.

Enclosed cartridge bodies can act like miniature microphones, catching internal sound reflections that cause acoustic colouration. To prevent this, the housing uses an open-frame design with an inverted egg-shaped curve to disperse unwanted resonances. Precision-machined from solid aluminium and finished in an anodised deep red, the chassis delivers rigid structural support while maintaining low overall weight.
