I fell into the audio business almost by accident in the mid‑80s and never looked back. Now I work part‑time because I can’t imagine walking away completely. I’ve sold tiny desktop systems and epic two‑channel setups, but the real joy comes from the relationships formed along the way. Many of my customers have become lifelong friends—one of them I’m heading out golfing with right after I finish this interview.

My Approach

Most people don’t know exactly what they want when they walk through our doors. Instead of launching into a sales pitch, I like to take them on a tour. We wander past different systems, and I ask about their life—what they do, how many kids they have, what hobbies they enjoy. By the end of that stroll, I usually have a good sense of who they are and what will bring them joy. Audio gear should fit your life, not the other way around.

A Memorable Setup

After decades in the business, it’s hard to pick just one system that stands out. The projects I remember most aren’t necessarily the biggest or most expensive; they’re the ones where we laughed, shared stories, and formed a connection. There’s nothing better than receiving a call 30 years later to go golfing with a customer you helped way back when.
