Buit to similar proportions as the flagship 801 D4, the 802 D4 offers much of the performance of its sibling, including the same Turbine Head enclosure for its midrange driver unit, yet is a more affordable design overall. Perfect for reference-grade stereo listening and also an excellent choice in home theatre applications.

Every stereo model in the new 800 Series Diamond™ range has a significantly upgraded cabinet with an all-new aluminium top-plate. This also provides a perfect mounting point for all-new Leather by Connolly trim, with luxurious black leather for dark cabinets and light grey for lighter finishes.

Innovation is at the heart of everything B&W does. They question, they examine, they understand and then they evolve. They use computer modelling to explore and reimagine every aspect of loudspeaker design.

802 D4 is a very special loudspeaker in its own right, with a thrilling blend of performance and style that other loudspeakers will find hard to emulate. Only one model in our range can best it – the flagship 801 D4, which has 250mm (10-in) bass cones in a more substantial low-frequency enclosure.
    • Diamond Dome Tweeter: Delivers ultra-high-frequency precision and realism, with remarkable detail and airiness across the soundstage.
    • Solid Body Tweeter-on-Top: Machined from a single block of aluminum for reduced resonance and improved dispersion of high frequencies.
    • Continuum™ Cone FST™ Midrange Driver: Ensures open, accurate vocal and instrumental reproduction, free from coloration and distortion.
    • Matrix™ Cabinet Bracing: Reinforces the speaker internally with interlocking panels and aluminum bracing for exceptional structural rigidity and reduced resonance
    • Anti-Resonance Plug: A foam insert added to Aerofoil bass drivers to lower distortion and deliver cleaner, tighter low-end performance.
    • Biomimetic Suspension: Innovative midrange suspension replaces conventional fabric spiders to minimize air pressure and mechanical noise, revealing exceptional clarity and lifelike midrange detail.
    • Turbine™ Head Enclosure: Isolated midrange housing shaped for maximum stiffness and minimal interference, allowing pure, uncolored sound.
    • Aerofoil™ Cone Bass Drivers: Carbon-fiber skinned, variable-profile cones engineered for powerful, controlled, and dynamic bass response.
    • Flowport™ Technology: Reduces air turbulence for cleaner bass output and improved efficiency, even at higher volumes.

How does the 802 D4 compare to the flagship 801 D4?

The 802 D4 offers nearly identical technology to the 801 D4, including the Turbine™ Head and Diamond tweeter, but in a slightly more compact enclosure with 8-inch bass drivers instead of the 10-inch units found in the 801 D4. It provides reference-level performance at a more accessible price point.

Is this speaker suitable for home theatre setups?

Yes. While ideal for high-end two-channel listening, the 802 D4 also shines in multi-channel home theatre applications when paired with matching 800 Series Diamond centre and surround speakers.

What makes the Diamond tweeter special?

The Diamond Dome Tweeter has an incredibly high stiffness-to-mass ratio and a breakup point far beyond human hearing (over 70kHz), enabling stunning resolution, accuracy, and spatial detail without harshness

What is the purpose of the Turbine™ Head?

The Turbine Head is a decoupled, acoustically optimized enclosure for the midrange driver. It isolates the midrange from the rest of the cabinet to eliminate coloration and distortion, resulting in pure, natural sound reproduction.

    Absolute elegance

802 D4’s svelte proportions and beautiful painted or real-wood-veneer finishes make for an elegant living-room companion – but one that doesn’t compromise on performance. Perfect for reference-grade stereo listening and an excellent choice in home theatre applications.

    Aerofoil™ bass cone

Our Aerofoil bass cone technology remains an outstanding solution to the conundrum of combining low mass and high stiffness in bass cones, thanks to its carbon-fibre skin and variable-profile foam core. Now, we have added the foam Anti-Resonance Plug for lower distortion and even cleaner bass.

    Decoupled midrange assembly

Like its floor-standing siblings in the new range, 802 D4 has a dedicated midrange cone using three key Bowers & Wilkins technologies: the Continuum™ cone, Biomimetic Suspension and midrange decoupling, the latter ensuring minimal interference from the operation of the loudspeaker’s bass drivers.
